Michelle Angela-Ortiz was a selected artist as part of The New Jersey Monuments to Migration and Labor Project (NJMML) @njmmlofficial . Her body of work titled “Carriers of Light and Labor” is a new public monument installation, that incorporates built environments that house her masterfully painted murals that depict local citizens on custom cut Panels. Many of which follow the form of the imagery.
New Jersey Monuments to Migration and Labor (NJMML) is a statewide public art and history initiative dedicated to recognizing the histories, labor, culture, and contributions of immigrant and migrant communities across New Jersey. The monuments are on view now through the end of October at City Hall in Paterson, New Jersey.
Weston Design and Fabrication, programed, CNC cut, routed, painted and installed all Monuments. We worked closely with Michelle to bring her vision to life!
